正治は定年退職間際に妻に先立たれた後、娘夫婦と同居していたが、心身ともに満たされぬ生活を送っていた。そんな状況に嫌気がさしたある日、正治はシルバーボランティアとして老人介護を始める。しかし、正治が訪ねた小田家は、息子夫婦が介護対象の清子の世話を嫌がっている様子。時折正気に戻る清子の嘆きを理解する正治は、毎日来ることを決意し…。
