愛する夫を亡くし、自暴自棄になっている未亡人の夏子。生きる意味を見失ってしまった夏子は死に場所を求めて、田舎をさまよい歩いていた。うつろな表情の夏子を心配して、話しかけた旅館の従業員の拓也。「行く場所を決めていないなら、ウチの旅館に泊まりませんか？」と、誘われて、夏子は死ぬ前に温泉に浸かるのも悪くないかなと、宿泊を決めた。
