澤すみれは夫を亡くして地方で一人暮らしをしている。息子家族は近所に住んでいるのだが、老い先短いのに気を遣って生きたくないと同居を断っていた。しかし孫の雄一の世話はすみれが見ることが多く、雄一はすっかりお婆ちゃん子になっていた。歳をとるにつれて会わなくなってきたが、ある日すみれが町内会で温泉旅行を当てた。すみれは雄一に車の運転を頼んで、ついでだから一緒に泊まろうと誘った。
