昭和28年1月の京都。ミロク銀行の頭取で元華族の夫が東南アジア復興の投資事業に失敗して自死。残された美貌の妻・?子（あきこ）と義息子の元を菩提寺の住職と尼僧が訪れ、投資した金の返済を迫る。亡夫の責任を負う未亡人は出家を強いられ、尼寺で尼僧として生きる事を余儀なくされる。
